Meaning

Used to describe the intention or attempt to do something. It indicates that someone is trying or is about to do something. This expression often conveys a sense of effort, intent, or something happening in the near future.

Form
V(volitional form) + とする

Points

  1. Indicating Intent or Attempt: "〜ようとする" is used to express when someone intends to do something or is making an effort to do it.
  2. Action Might Not Be Completed: The action may not actually occur or be completed; it only indicates the intent or the beginning of the action.
  3. Can Indicate Immediate Future: It can also be used to describe something that is just about to happen.
